30 Day Journal - Day 1

Today's Journal Prompts:

Beginning this 30 Day Journal Project feels daring because…
Write down an achievement you feel proud of:
In order to have (your proud achievement), I had to dare to begin…
Do these same two prompts together with as many achievements you wish, then connect the dots. What patterns emerge?
Your task:
Do one or more of these prompts.

I think is quite self - explanatory - taking a risk knowing it will lead to something better.

Hamsa

I spent a lovely morning on Friday at a craft workshop making a Hamsa - this is the symbol of a hand with an eye inside - it is meant to be for protection and bring good luck.

I took the picture again with a black background as it shows the colours better, you can't see very well but there are silver beads inside the fingers too.

I used to have lots of different colour wires but I gave it away as I didn't know what to do with it!

Hope you are having a crafty weekend!

DLP - Sheer Genius

October Theme
Translucent Papers
October 17
Art Challenge: Vellum
Journal Prompt:  Sheer Genius

Although DLP has finished for 2015 and restarted for 2016 I am still going to complete the prompts that appeal to me - I see no point doing a prompt if it doesn't inspire you (glassine envelopes? or maybe that's just me??).

Vellum put through my bug with a  embossing folder

Vellum lifts up to read 'There is no great genius without some touch of madness' which apparently is a quote from aristotle, but it's off the internet so it could be anybody's......

J52 - Week 2 - What are you saying yes to?

Week #2: “What are you saying yes to?
Complete a spread that expresses what you want to say “YES” to in 2016

What are you saying yes to in 2016?

J52 - Week 1 - Your word of the year

Week #1: “Word Of The Year”
Spend some time reflecting on your word of the year (if you’ve chosen one), and create a spread that expresses that word.

I used dylusion sprays for the background and then dylusion stamps and paints for the leaves. I stamped in versamark and used clear embossing powder to create  an area I could paint inside (thanks to Vicky P for this tip). I also used dylusions stamps for the wording. I wonder if I should outline the leaves to make them stand out more?

Did you choose a word of the year?

Journal52 - cover page

Dylusions sprays and stamping/stencilling. The thing that looks like the snail trail is the glitter glass bead gel -I forgot dylusions don't like mediums over them!

My camera turned this all blue - could only get an accurate colour representation on my phone!

A Year of Gratitude (picture heavy post)

Happy New Year everyone - hope your new year is starting off well!

Very few crafty gifts this year...

Fabby gift from my secret santa

I have been doing a gratitude journal for 2-3 years now, I try to fill it in every day but it doesn't always happen. It is also nice to remind me what was going on in my life at that time - at a time when work was awful the recurring theme was 'got away from work on time' or 'thank god it's friday!'.

I have made a start on this years journal - I was hoping to have it all set and ready to go for the 1st but that didn't happen...

Oh well hopefully will have it sorted within the next few days - feeling craft starved as we have guests but that is another thing I should be grateful for.
