Stitchmaynia

Stitchmaynia is a group on facebook for cross stitchers and the name comes from 15 new starts on the first 15 days of May. Lots of people adapt and work on projects already started and some people have a monogamous May. Here is my take on it so far..

Craftathon 2017

This year it was my turn to host craftathon. It started on Friday afternoon at the Nags head where Jan, Catherine and myself had a lovely lunch. We went on to the centre where we got set up and met with Kathy and Cherry.

After some crafting we walked a few steps down the road for a lovely meal at the Spread Eagle then gathered for drinks at the beefeater. The stay at the Premier Inn was not without its trauma but lets not go there...

We eat at the beefeater on Saturday night, again not without its moments but it was still a nice evening. We met up for coffee, chat and last minute crafting on Sunday morning but Catherine had headed off to comicon to meet one of her idols :). Thankfully we weren't there long as a childrens party was going on next door and there was a guy in the kitchen in his underpants apparently..... Anyway I had a great time, hope everyone else did too and we are already talking about next years!!!

Thanks ladies xx

Hello Soul Hello Mixed-Media Mantras

I spent Friday morning with a crafty pal working through Kelly Rae Roberts workshop. It is an introduction to mixed media and shows you how to build layers, pull your page together and use different mediums. For most people it is not anything new but she is teaching a friend of hers at the same time and it's always interesting to see people work.

I forgot to take pix of each layer but here is a midway point.

Underneath the paint there is a book page and tissue tape. There is stencilling and stamping over the top.

It reads 'Release all that has gone before'.

Hope you are all enjoying some crafty time :)

Watercolour Cards

I decided it was about time I made some cards, I went back to a technique I had used previously called smackin' acetate. I put my zig water colour pens on an acrylic block, spritzed it with water and pressed it on my paper.

I then used my versamark pad and black embossing powder to get these striking results - I tend to forget that it sometimes looks even better than stamping!

January Lakeside Fantasy Sal and a bit of shopping!

I hope January finds you well and you have been up to your crafty elbows in stash!

The lakeside fantasy stitchalong has a new release each month, this month seemed to take forever to get finished and we are not far away from next months release!

This week brought a meet with a crafty pal with shopping, luch and lattes - what could be better?

Kathy and I met at Snazzy's for a bit of retail therapy - here is what I bought

Val had made some card samples with the Paperartsy stamps (they were already in my basket at this point) that we ooh'd and aaah'd over whilst she kindly gave us tea and biscuits.

Once shopping was done we headed over to the Tawny Owl for lunch, coffee and chatting! Thanks for a lovely day Kathy :)

Another mystery stitchalong from Lakeside Needlecraft

 Under the Sea

Hope January finds you well and crafty. I always avoid my craft room during the winter months and the temperature is the same as the conservatory - bloody freezing! I need to organise myself and my room and get the heater back in!!
